Welcome to the Massachusetts Society of Sons of the Revolution, a hereditary society formed in 1891 to honor and perpetuate the ideals, courage and sacrifice of our ancestors who served in the cause for freedom through the American Revolution.

Our Founding

The national society was founded in 1876 by John Austin Stevens, a member of New York City’s Victorian society and a patriotic historian.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the city of Boston in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Membership

Membership in the Massachusetts Society begins with the recommendation of two members of the society who know you well.

Mission

The Sons of the Revolution perpetuates the memory of the men, who in the military, naval and civil service of the Colonies and of the Continental Congress by their acts or counsel, achieved the Independence of the Country, and to further the proper celebration of the anniversaries of the birthday of Washington, and of prominent events connected with the War of the Revolution; to collect and secure for preservation the rolls, records, and other documents relating to that period.
